  Race Report

TROY BAYLISS'S DOUBLE THE FIRST OF 2006- BATTLE OF THE TROYS DELIVERS TWO WINS TO BAYLISS.

Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) and Troy Corser (Alstare Suzuki CoronaExtra) were on a different plane of exsistance from their peers at Valencia, each Australian rider taking turns to lead the races, which were both won by Troy Bayliss.His first double win of the year means that he has scored three straight wins, after his race two success in Australia. He leads the championship, by 22 points, from Corser. Each Valencia race had idenctical top five finishers.

RACE ONE. A two man fight for the win pitted the two Troys together at the head of the pack, with Corser the leader for most of the race, but Bayliss making it count in the end, earning a winning margin of 2.765 seconds. The aussie duo ended up 14 seconds clear of the nearest challengers. The final podium place went to Lorenzo Lanzi (Ducati Xerox) who overcame a strong challenges from Norik Abe (Yamaha Motor France) and Nori Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia). Fourth was Abe's best career World superbike finish. Yukio Kagayama (Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra) scored a sixth place, before a fall robbed him of a good finish in race two.

RACE TWO. The second 23-lap race looked it would be corser's, such was was the escape of his intial escape from the chasing pack, but as the race approached the final laps, his countryman Bayliss stole the lead for his first double race win of 2006. Bayliss's team-mate Lorenzo Lanzi came in third place for he second time that day picking up valueable points. Norik Abe and Nori Haga finished fourth and fifth to repeat the same positions in race one. Fonsi Nieto was the first Kawsaki across the line in sixth place beating his team-mates Chris Walker seventh and Regis Laconi eighth. Andrew pitt rode his Yamaha Italia Motor R1 to a ninth place finish as he suffered lack of grip all weekend, but it was one place better than in race one. Britains James Toseland (Winston Ten Kate Honda) was bitterly disappointed with his weekends results by finishing ninth and eleventh.Toseland was the top Honda finisher in race one, but was beaten by Honda rider Michel Fabrizio (DFX Treme Honda) in race two. Former Moto-GP star Alex Barros had a bad weekend by only qualyfying in sixteen place and with two bad starts could only manage 11th and 14th.

WORLD SUPERSPORT CHAMPIONSHIP: Sebastien Charpentier claimed his third straight race win 0f the season on his Winston Ten Kate Honda machine, with Kevin Curtain settleing for his third second place finish 0f 2006 upon his Yamaha Motor Germany R6, with japanese star Katsuaki Fujiwara on his Megabike Honda claiming third. Brock Parkes finished fourthdue to brake fluid leaking onto the rear tyre of his Yamaha Motor Germany R6.
