Aprilia Alitala rider Max Biaggi continued his fine run of form by taking his fourth double win of the year at the Misano circuit in San Marino. Biaggi utterly dominated both races to further his lead in the championship to the delight of the 69,000 strong crowd. Race one saw Biaggi fight with pole man BMW Motorrad rider Troy Corser for the first 16 laps before seizing his chance to take the lead where he stayed until the chequred flag. Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa would eventually overhaul Troy Corser for second with the BMW rider third. In race two Biaggi would open up a lead of nearly six seconds to take his eighth win of the seaon with his closest rival in the championship Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam second and Ducati Xerox's Michel Fabrizio third.
Race One. Aprilia Alitalia's Max Biaggi took his seventh win of the season after taking the lead from long time race leader BMW Motorrad rider Troy Corser with nine laps to go. Corser would then had to fend off Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa for second but would lose out to the Ducati rider on the final lap to take third. Ducati Xerox's Michel Fabrizio who at one point was up for a podium position crossed the finish line in fourth ahead Alstare Suzuki's Sylvain Guintoli and Aprilia Alitalia's Leon Camier. The second Ducati Xerox of Nori Haga crossed the line in a lonely seventh while Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam had a disappointing race in eighth with Althea Ducati's Shane Byrne and Sterilgarda Yamaha's James Toseland in ninth and tenth.
Race Two. Max Biaggi made liitle work in the second race of the day, as the hard charging Italian would cross the line to to his eighth win of the year some four seconds clear of Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam and Ducati Xerox's Miche Fabrizio. Sterilgarda Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow held off a late challenge from Althea Ducati's to take fourth with Haslam's team-mate Sylvain Quintoli in sixth. Checa's althea team-mate Shane Byrne put in a solid performance to take seventh with the ever improving Supersonic Ducati's Luca Scassa in eighth. Ducati Xerox's Nori Haga was a disappointing ninth with BMW Motorrad's Troy Corser who ran off the circuit eventually finished in tenth.
SUPERSPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Parlkalgar Honda rider Eugene Laverty put in an amazing perfromance to win at Misano and go top of the points table for the first time this season. The Northern Ireland racer to the lead from Kawasaki Motocard.com rider Joan Lascorz on the third lap to eventually open up a lead of some four seconds to seal his win ahead of his nearest rivals in the championship Joan Lascorz with Hannspree Ten Kate Honda's Kenan Sofuoglu in third. Britain's Triumph BE1 Racing's Chaz Davis just missed out on a podium place in fourth still took valuable points to retain his position of fourth in the championship.
