BIAGGI TAKES HIS THIRD DOUBLE OF THE YEAR IN THE USA 

A remarkable day of unpredictable final outcomes and drama on track finally delivered two 21-lap race victories to Max Biaggi and his Aprilia Litalia team in front of 55,000 spectators, a record crowd for the Miller Motorsports Park. Max now has a 15 point lead over Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam but he may not have won a single today had the Althea Ducati privateer Carlos Checa's machine not quit twice on him while leading. Runner up to Biaggi in race one went to Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam with Ducati Xerox Nori Haga in third. Race two saw Aprilia's Leon Camier cross the line behind his team-mate Biaggi with Sterilgarda Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow third.

Race One. A two-rider fight for supremacy in race one suddenly bacame a clear victory for Max Biaggi as long time race leader Carlos Checa was forced to retire with an electrical problem on lap 19 of 21 laps. Almost five seconds behind Biaggi, championship leader Leon Haslam was second for the Alstare Suzuki team with the final spot on the podium was secured by the rejuvenated Nori Haga to the delight of the Ducati Xerox team. Biaggi's team-mate Leon Camier who was on for a podium for most of the race, but could not keep pace with Haslam and Haga eventually finished fourth ahead of BMW Motorrad rider Troy Corser and Althea Ducati's Shane Byrne who after a terrible start fought his way up to sixth. Supersonic Ducati Luca Scassa, Alstare Suzuki's Sylvain Quintoli, Sterilgarda Yamaha's James Toseland and BMW Motorrad's Ruben Xaus rounded out the top ten finishers.

Race Two. With his main championship rival Leon Haslam crashing out of race two, Max Biaggi's second win of the day for the Aprilia team put 15 points in the lead. Carlos Checa once more stopped while leading out on track.
Leon Camier had a career best of second on his Aprilia Alitalia machine with Sterilgarda Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow third with Ducati Xerox's Nori Haga fourth. Troy Corser took his second fifth place of the day for the BMW Motorrad team with Alstare Suzuki's Sylvain Quintoli in sixth. Althea Ducati Shane Byrne, Hannspree Ten Kate Honda Johnathan Rea, Ducati Xerox Michel Fabrizio and Supersonic Ducati's Luca Scassa rounded out the top ten. In the championship Biaggi now has 257 points, Haslam 242 and Johnathan Rea joint third with Carlos Checa on 141 points.

SUPERSPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider Kenan Sofuoglu extended his championship lad by six points after a convincing win at the Miller Motorsports Park his first win since Portimao. He also took a new lap record of 1'51.702 sconds, on lap six. Parkalgar Honda rider Eugene Laverty took second with Kawasaki Motocard.com Joan Lascorz third. ParkinGo Triumph BE1 Racing's Chaz Davies won a tight battle for fourth from Sofuoglu's team-mate Michele Pirro. The championshio now stands with Sofuoglu on 142 points, Laverty 136, Lascorz 128 with Davies in fourth with 84 points.
