MELANDRI TAKES HIS SECOND WIN OF THE YEAR IN SPAIN

Yamaha WSBK Team rider Marco Melandri took his second win of the season at the Motorland of Aragon circuit in Spain, for round seven of the FIM World Superbike Championship. Melandri, took advantage of having the the Spanish circuit prior to the WSB round was fastest from day one, where he secured his maiden pole position in almost a decade. In race one Medlandri kept the pressure on his arch-rival Aprilia Alitalia's Max Biaggi, when the world champion made a mistake with four laps remaining allowed the Yamaha man to take the lead where he eventually crossed the line 1.2 seconds ahead of Biaggi who came under attack from his Aprilia team-mate Leon Camier who had to settle for third. Race two looked like race one winner Marco Melandri was on for the double after leading for three quarters of race, when a costly mistake allowed Max Biaggi to pass and take his first win of the season using the number one plate. Melandri was second ahead of points leader Carlos Checa who had a DNF in race one.

Race One. Marco Melandri won the first race of the day after starting from pole position at the Motorland of Aragon circuit in Spain. Arch-rival world champion Max Biaggi who led the race made a mistake with four laps remaining allowing Melandri to hit the front where he eventually crossed the line 1.2 seconds clear of Biaggi and his Aprilia Alitalia team-mate Leon Camier. Melandri's team-mate Eugene Laverty fought his way to take fourth ahead of Kawasaki Racing's Tom Sykes and PATA Aprilia's Noriyuki Haga. Sykes team-mate Joan Lascorz rode to a solid seventh with BMW Italia rider Ayrton Badovini having a lonely run in eighth ahead of the two factory BMW's of Leon Haslam and Troy Corser.

Race Two. Max Biaggi took his maiden win of the season using his number one plate after Marco Melandri out-braked himself with four laps remaining. Biaggi seized his chance to cross the line ahead of Melandri and Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa who had a DNF in race won. Alstare Suzuki's Michel Fabrizio rewarded himself with a fourth while Kawasaki Racing's Joan Lascorz celebrated with a season's best finish in fifth. A poor start from Yamaha's Eugene Laverty bravely saw the Irishman fight his way from sixteenth took sixth ahead of PATA Aprilia's Noriyuki Haga and Aprilia Alitalia's Leon Camier in a distant eighth. A diffcult weekend for the factory BMW of Leon Haslam took ninth ahead of satelite Bmw of Ayrton Badovini in tenth.

SUPERSPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

British rider Chaz Davies came from fourth on the grid to take his Yamaha ParkinGO machine to it's third win of the season after pole man Broc Parkes crashed his Kawasaki motocard.com with three laps to go, gifting Davies another win. Reigning British Supersport Champion Sam Lowes took his best result of the season in second for the Parkalgar Honda Team while Parkes Kawasaki Motocard.com team-mate David Salom salvaged something for the team was third. Massimo Roccoli made it two Kawasaki's in the top four. Bike Servive Yamaha's Roberto Tamburini managed to hold of Briton Step Racing Honda's Gino Rea for fifth. Veteran Ten Kate Honda's Fabien Foret was seventh ahead of Robbin Harms, Miguel Praia and Florian Marino.
