75,000 fans made the long journey across Europe for the thirteenth and final round of the 2010 FIM Hannspree World Superbike championship at Magny-Cours in France. Although Alitalia Aprilia rider Max Biaggi took the title at Imola in Italy the previous weekend the Roman would settle for nothing less than a double victory to round off his season, but a certain Sterilgarda Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow had something to say about that by winning race one in convincing style ahead of Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam and Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa. In the final race of the season Max Biaggi and Cal Crutchlow fought a stunning battle throughout the 23 lap race but Biaggi was not going to give up easily as he held Crutchlow at bay to score his tenth win of the season with an emotional Michel Fabrizio taking third for the Ducati Xerox teams last ever race.
Race One. Cal Crutchlow wanted to leave the World Superbike championship in style race before moving to MotoGP next season. True to his word the Sterilgarda Yamaha opened up a healthy lead of five seconds to record his sixth and final win of the year. There was a three way battle for second as it looked like Biaggi had it in the bag, but Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam seized his chance on the last corner of the final lap as Biaggi left the door open for Haslam to barge through resulting in Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa diving under Biaggi to take third leaving a very disgruntled world champion in fourth. PATA B&G Racing Aprilia's Jakub Smrz had a lonely race to take fifth ahead of the two Battling Ducati Xerox riders of Michel Fabrizio and Nori Haga with another strong performance from Kawasaki SRT rider Tom Sykes in eighth. Althea Ducati's Shane Byrne who's riding for a job next year was ninth with Supersonic Ducati's Luca Scassa in a well deserved tenth.
Race Two. After seeing Cal Crutchlow run away in race one Max Biaggi had idea's of his own knowing that an early lead was the only way of securing the final win of the year. Once out in front with a healthy lead Biaggi had Crutchlow and Alstare Suzuki's Sylvain Quintoli for company but this time the Alprilia rider was riding defencely not allowing the Yamaha rider a chance of taking the lead. This worked out for Biaggi as he was able to take his tenth and final win of the season ahead of Crutchlow with a very emotional Michel Fabrizio getting the better of Guintoli for third on his last outing for the Ducati Xerox team as they bid farewell from racing with the second Ducati ridden by Nori Haga in fifth, while Jakub Smrz put in another great ride for the privateer Aprilia team in sixth. Supersonic Ducati's Luca Scassa had his best result of the season was seventh with Shane Byrne getting the better of his Althea Ducati team-mate for once in eighth while runner-up in the championship Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam early mistake in the race resulted in him finishing in tenth.
