Despite a wet start on the third and final day of testing at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi was able to set the fastest time towards the end of the final session as conditions steadily improved.
The Fiat Yamaha rider completed a total of 32 laps, with the fastest being 2min 0.925 seconds. Marlboro Ducati rider Casey Stoner was consistant as ever in second, with Ross's team-mate Jorge Lorenzo improving from yesterday's placing of fifth was third. After a slow start from Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, the young Spaniard was able to finish fourth ahead of Monster Yamaha Tech 3's Ben Spies.
MOTOGP : McCOY RETURNS TO MOTOGP AT AGE 37
One of the most exciting racers to watch in the former GP 500cc class, Garry McCoy is to make a comeback to MotoGP at the tender age of 37.
The Australian racer has signed a deal to ride for the new FB Corse Team. After recently being dropped by the factory Triumph team in the World Supersport Championship earlier this year, Garry thought his best chances of a ride would come from a privateer team in WSS.
Garry said : "When i got the call, i thought it was in the newly formed Moto2 class, but to get another shot in the MotoGP class is amazing. I have yet to ride the bike as a test is set for March."
MOTOGP : ROSSI MAY EXTEND HIS CAREER
Nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi says the return of the 1000cc engines in 2012 could persuade him to extend his career in MotoGP.
The Fiat Yamaha rider has hinted that a career in Rallying is where his future lies, but he stated he is still hungry in MotoGP.
Valentino said : "I'm very happy to go back to the bigger engines as it's more fun than the 800cc and better for the fans. This could convince me to stay a little longer in MotoGP."
