Max Neukirchner became the first ever German to win a World Superbike race as he claimed victory in race one at Monza in Italy. The young Alstare Suzuki rider won by the narrowist of margins by beating Yamaha Motor Italia's Nori Haga by just 0.058 seconds. Championship leader Troy Bayliss fought hard with Neukirchner and Haga, but as he had not the top end speed to keep with the four cylinder machines passing them would be a totally different matter. In race two Yamaha Motor Italia's Nori was caught in a fight again with Neukirchner but this time Haga had all the answers for the young German as he powered his way to victory ahead of Neukirchner and Hannspree Ten Kate Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari making it to the podium in his rookie year.

After the races Max said "Today proved i have the pace in both races to be a threat to the top guys and as the season goes on i will get better with every race".

WSS : FABIEN FORET STORMS TO VICTORY AT MONZA

Yamaha World Supersport rider Fabien Foret won his first World Supersport race at Monza. The cool Frenchman diced with his team-mate and pole sitter Broc Parkes for the first five laps until he saw his chance to pass, and once Fabien got into the lead he opened up a gap of three seconds to eventually win the race ahead of Stiggy Motorsports Josh Brooks and Broc Parkes. It was a bad day for our British riders as both Johnny Rea and Chris Walker failed to finish due to mechanical problems and Craig Jones was riding injured with a damaged hand.
