This weekend the newly revamped Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire will play host to round ten of the Hannspree World Superbike Championship where an estimated crowd of 100,000 racing fans will be on hand to cheer on the strong British conitngent.

Italy's Max Biaggi comes to the UK with a 68 point lead over Britain's Leon Haslam who hopes to close the gap on the Aprilia Alitalia rider with Northern Ireland's Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider Johnathan Rea sitting in third who's fresh from his Suzuka 8 Hour Endurance race last weekend in Japan sits in third.

WSB : REA TAKES THIRD AT THE SUZUKA 8 HOUR

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider Johnathan Rea flew the flag for the World Superbike fraternity by finishing third with partner Kosuke Akiyoshi riding for the TSR FCC Honda squad at the Suzuka 8 Hour Endurance race in Japan.

Johnny Rea said : "I want to thank all my team and Japanese fans. Today was a tough day as we had some unexpected troubles and mistakes, so to be honest i'm not so happy. Yet working with Akiyoshi and repeatedly telling myself never give up and keep going to us to third.

WSBK : YANAGAWA TO REPLACE VERMEULEN

The Kawasaki Racing Team has officially confirmed that Japanese rider Akira Yanagawa will step in for the injured Chris Vermeulen for round 10 of the Hannspree World Superbike Championship at Silverstone in the UK. The 39-year-old Japanese rider has had a long standing history with Kawasaki, having raced in both Japan and World Superbike Championships for over a decade.

From 1997 until 2001, Yanagawa had over 100 World Superbike races with the highlights being three race wins and a further 20 podium finishes.

Akira Yanagawa said : "I feel very sorry for Chris Vermenlen and i wish him the best of luck in his recovery, however i am very happy to help the Kawasaki Racing team in his absence. It's been many years since i last raced in WSB so it will be a pleasure of being part of it again. I'm very excited in returning to the UK to race again."
